Carbonit Ion exchange resin - Nitrate
Description
Carbonit Ion exchange resin - Nitrate
- Removes nitrates from the water.
- Ideal for regions with higher nitrate contamination in the groundwater.
- For the use with a Refill cartridge NF2. (To be ordered separately.)
- Perfect in combination with activated carbon cartridges.
- Reusable: Regenerable with a regeneration adaptor and regular cooking salt (please refer to the instruction manual).
- Optimal results are obtained at a flow rate of about 1 l/min. Depending on further utilised cartridges and line pressure we recommend a flow regulator 1,0 l/min.
- A test stick to determine the nitrate content of the incomming water is included.
- Resins have a limited life period (12 months from filling date): So you should avoid excessive storage. After that date, the resin is usable as long as it's still moist.
Useful life
The yield of ion exchange resins depends on the nitrate content of the incoming water. The following table gives an overview of the filtration capacities for given nitrate contents and a retention up to the legal limit of 50 mg/l or for a complete retention of the nitrates (0 mg/l).
Nitrate content (mg/l) | 60 | 80 | 100 | 120 | 140 | 160 | 180 | 200 | 220 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Capacity with 50 mg/l rest nitrate (in L) | 300 | 250 | 210 | 180 | 155 | 135 | 115 | 100 | 90 |
Capacity with 0 mg/l rest nitrate (in L) | 265 | 200 | 160 | 135 | 115 | 100 | 85 | 75 | 70 |
This is how it works
The water slowly flows by the ion exchange resin. Thereby the nitrate ions ( NO3-) are replaced with chloride ions (Cl-). The water is thus free from unhealthy nitrates.
